I'm using the free version, and after some transition pain, it's working well for me as an ESXi replacement.

Proxmox, you might consider this beneath your dignity, but you might want to set out a "pay what you can" license, for the currently free version.

For those of us who don't currently need the enterprise features.

I was thinking about this just the other day.
Either this, or a cut-down product.
I’m essentially using Proxmox as a really good web UI alternative to virt manager, for literally just three or four VMs on a single machine. I don’t use Ceph or multiple nodes, or VM migration.
