Hi,
we have a proxmox storage added as a directory. It is a separate disk added as a directory in the proxmox storage. when we try to backup a server into the storage, May I know if it will be an incremental backup? or is there any option to make the backup incremental?

Again, be more specific. You are talking about PVE and not PBS? Only PBS can do incremental backups.

Assuming Op means built-in PVE backup option, as @Dunuin said - you cant make incremental backups with it:
One way to confirm:
In GUI select VM, select backup, press Help button in top right corner, locate:
Code:
Proxmox VE backups are always full backups - containing the VM/CT configuration and all data. Backups can be started via the GUI or via the vzdump command line tool.

PBS on the other hand can do incremental. It is possible, although not recommended, to run PBS on the same host as PVE.
