Hello Everyone

After doing some reseatch and some testing, I plan on moving all my servers to proxmox. (Just waiting for hardware to arrive now)

I will have the server with 4 HDD in RAID10.

Now this is my question, do I install proxmox on the RAID, or use a separate HDD for Proxmox, and all the VM's go on the RAID. I was thinking of this setup when it comes time to upgrade proxmox, I can just wipe the OS drive and re-install it.

But I would like to hear what others have to say and or their setup and whats suggested.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Hi Andreas,
I would simply create an small (e.g. 50GB) Volume on the raid, which is used for installation (and also for local storage) and use the remaining space for virtualization.
But this depends on your needs (lvm-storage, backup, DRBD...).
