Proxmox reinstall question

Hello I'm still new to Linux and Proxmox but, I'm learning a lot along the way.
I first installed Proxmox on bear metal but later found out that I was missing some drivers.
So after doing some reading I install Proxmox on top of Debian 12.
This worked for awhile but it seemed that Proxmox and Debian did not know what the other was doing.
Then I did some more reading and installed Proxmox bare metal again adding the gnome desktop.
Well they did not play very well together.
So how can I get my missing drivers (wifi, ethernet and usb) on a bear metal Proxmox install.
From what I was reading the kernel has a lot to do with it but, Proxmox is using what appears to be a newer kernel.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks,

proxmox ve is designed for headless server.
zfs require enterprise ssd.
if you want a desktop on consumer hardware, regular debian/Ubuntu + virtual machine manager (qemu gui) should be better suited.

Thank You for your reply...
I took a quick look at qemu gui's and virt-manager seems to be popular.
My next concern is it does not look like I can take my backups from Proxmox and import them into virt-manager.
Is there a way to convert my backups so I can load them into virt-manager?
Should I copy/backup my Proxmox files a different way to import them into virt-manager?
It looks like using qemu might do the trick but I don't know.
Thanks Again,
