Hi,

Is it recommendable to install Proxmox on an USB-Stick?

Or will it kill the USB-Stick?

Damn.
Right now I'm using Proxmox on two Samsung EVO 850 SSDs in ZFS-RAID1 and there are my VMs and LXCs stored.
But I think it is actually a waste of a SSD since only two LXC-Container is really important (Ubuntu 16.10 with Nextcloud and one Ubuntu 16.10 with Wordpress). But here's the question if I need to run them on the SSDs or will be the ZFS RAIDz1 made out of three HDDs fast enough for the webaccess? And I'm making backups every week.

That depends on your needs an on how much RAM you have - it's probably going to be fast enough.

Hey guys,

So this is my first post here we are now trying out proxmox before making the switch from esxi but I have a usb install concern too.

The deal is that Im setting up one of the servers in a satellite office, so its just a small xeon D system with no HBA, so to maximise the available HDD spots i installed on a zfs raid1 of sandisk ultra fits.

I am aware that swap and the log files that proxmox writes are killing the usb so i ld rather move those to the zfs pool. I havent been able to find out how to change the logs location and whats the best practise for moving the zfs swap?

Thanks a lot!
