Proxmox & NVIDIA partnership - what to expect?

The announcement about Proxmox VE becoming part of the NVIDIA Mission Control ecosystem caught my attention.

To me, this partnership also seems like another step in Proxmox’s evolution from being seen primarily as an excellent open-source virtualization platform into a recognized enterprise solution for demanding workloads.

I also wonder whether the long-term goal is not a separate Proxmox AI edition, but rather an officially NVIDIA-certified Proxmox platform, similar to the certification programs we already see in other enterprise ecosystems.

What do you think?

Do you expect all of these AI-related improvements to become part of the regular Proxmox VE releases, or do you think we’ll eventually see enterprise-specific features or a dedicated edition? I’m curious to hear how others interpret this announcement.

Dont conflate Nvidia hardware support as "AI." All this means in practice that nvidia "incentivized" Proxmox GMBH (probably with an NRE paid with nvidia couch change) to port PVE to their ARM cpus. Not really sure what for since the majority of AI workloads are dockerized but there you go.

From an industry perspective this isnt likely to make any difference at all. nvidia CPUs are not sold to the GP server market, and the only other commercial alternative is Ampera which, despite shipping for a long time, has not incentivized the devs to invest in- and they're probably right.

Well I can imagine a usecase, where somebody wants to rent outs part of their Nvidia/ARM64 hardware and want to give their customers the possibility to use ProxmoxVE since they are already familiar with it. I mean if you are not running kubernetes/docker bare metal in the first place it might make sense to have some managment layer for deploying the vms running kubernetes/docker/whatever.
