proxmox novnc failed to connect to server error

Hi,

I am new to Proxmox and have to teach it as a class for a Community College this coming fall. I did install latest version 5.4-1 as a VM on a VMWare 6.7 ESXi host and it succeeded. I created a new VM but when clicking on console I got this error: proxmox novnc failed to connect to server

Any help in resolving this error is greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
what does the tasklog for the console say? did you start the vm first?
 
I started VM first and task log shows this error" Failed to run vncproxy". My school has no plan to purchase a commercial subscription. They are moving away from VMWare to avoid paying money. Isn't Proxmox an open source hypervisor? Thanks
 
Are you using Custom SSL Certificates like let's encrypt? If yes, try to remove them and check again.
