Hello,

Since some weeks, I am not able to boot from my harddisk (with Proxmox 6.4 on it) anymore (I only get a blinking cursor). When I want to boot, I use an USB with Proxmox ISO on it, run rescue mode, then everything is working fine.

How can I fix the system so that it will properly start from my harddisk again?

Kind regards.

did you change/modify anything on the host before that started happening?

does your harddisk have a bootable partition? how did you make this setup?

we don't support or recommend USB boot in general

No

Yes, I normally installed Proxmox on a harddrive, it worked for a couple of years, but after a power failure something happened I think that the system did not boot correctly anymore. I installed an bootable USB from ISO and I started the rescue option on that USB. Via this rescues USB I can normally start my Proxmox, but that is offcourse not what I want. I want the system to boot normally from harddisk.

is your harddisk partitioned correctly then? and the partition marked bootable?

i'm honestly not sure about your exact setup. if you think your disk/partition might be corrupted you can try running fsck on it to fix any filesystem errors (that could stop you from booting).

but what i'd ultimately suggest to you would be to just make backups of all your VM/CT and install PVE7 from scratch [0][1] ;)
