I have a friend who is wanting to play around with Proxmox. He is looking to install multiple versions of Windows OS, XP, Vista, Windows Home Server.

I have installed Proxmox for him on a single 2TB hd, and he has 2-3 additional 2TB hard drives he wants to use for his Windows Home Server, etc.

Is it wise for me to add the additional HD to the VG /var/lib/vz (?) and then create the KVM guest or is there a better way to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Yep, I have a question too. In this situation can I use both disks for using with my openvz containers? I think that I can use additional disk only for example for backups, etc, but not for containers.

Hi,
if you need more space in /var/lib/vz (for openvz or kvm with local storage) you can simply expand the volumegroup pve with additional disks and then expand the logical volume data (with running system without reboot). See "man lvm".
