Hi, we would like to create a two nodes system with Proxmox VE: the main one running all the virtual machines and the second one will receive a replica of each vm from the main one. We will not use HA, but we will manually "move" the virtual machines from the first to the second node in case of failure.
We have gone through the documentation (https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Storage_Replication) where is stated that zfs filesystem is necessary to achieve replication, but we would like to know if we need it on both nodes, just the source or just the destination. We have clients with Proxmox VE installed on lvm and we were also wondering if we could add eventually a second node (based on zfs) and achieve replication without having to install the hypervisor from scratch.

Thanks in advance for the answer and the dedicated time,
Have a good day

You need to have ZFS on both source and destination, yes. It's using zfs send and zfs receive under the hood.
