We're really excited to announce the final release of the brand new Proxmox Mail Gateway 5.0, now fully licensed under the open source license aGPLv3!

After 12 years on the market we did a complete re-work of our Proxmox Mail Gateway, and we moved to an open source license.

FAQ
Q: Can I do an inplace-upgrade from Proxmox Mail Gateway 4 to 5?
A: No. But you can backup/restore the rule database and email statistic from PMG 4 to 5.

Q: Can I upgrade from the Proxmox Mail Gateway 5.0 beta to the final 5.0 release with apt?
A: Yes.

Q: Which update repositories are available?
A: We use the well known Debian Stretch repositories and the Proxmox Mail Gateway repositories:

By default, the enterprise repo is enabled but works only if you purchase a subscription key.
# pmg-enterprise - stable updates for enterprise subscribers
deb https://enterprise.proxmox.com/debian/pmg stretch pmg-enterprise

# pmgtest repository, for testing new features or bug fixes
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pmg stretch pmgtest

# pmg-no-subscription - updates for non-subscribers
deb http://download.proxmox.com/debian/pmg stretch pmg-no-subscription

Q: Can I install Proxmox Mail Gateway on top of Debian Stretch?
A: Yes. See documentation https://www.proxmox.com/en/downloads/item/proxmox-mail-gateway-admin-guide-for-5-x

Q: Can I still buy a Proxmox Mail Gateway 4.x license?
A: No, the V4 is End-of-Sale, we do not sell renewals or new licenses for 4.x.

Q: Can I still run an existing Proxmox Mail Gateway 4.x?
A: Yes, you can run your existing installation as long as your license is active. But we encourage you to plan the move as soon as possible to the new version.

Q: I have a valid Avira SAV license key, can I use this one also on 5.0?
A: No. Avira SAV is not available for 5.0.

Q: I have a valid Proxmox Mail Gateway 4 license with enterprise support, can I use this license also for 5.0?
A: Yes. V4 customers will get free subscription keys for 5.x from your reseller via email. These free keys will have the same expiration date as your V4 license.

We hope you will like the new Proxmox Mail Gateway and are looking forward to your feedback.
