Am running PVE 8.0.4 not using the pve backup server but the internal/builtin back mechanism/schedule.
This is working fine but am struggling to figure out retention for different VMs.
Within the backup schedule where you set the retention am struggling to with this.
Lets say I have 3 VMs.
VM1
VM2
VM2
From Monday to Saturday I want to run a backup keeping 2 versions/retentions just for VM1 and VM2 - no backup for VM3
On Sunday I want to run a backup for VM1, VM2 and VM3 keeping the 2 version/retentions for VM1 and VM2 but only having 1 version/retention for VM3
How can I achieve this?
Was thinking of having 1 backup job for VM1 and VM2 Mon to Sun then triggering a seperate backup only on Sunday for VM3 when the previous backup job is completed. But as I cannot say when the VM1 and VM2 backup will complete or how to trigger the 2nd backup job.
Or is it a best guess scenario? Set VM1 and VM2 to run Mon-Sun, I often see VM1 and VM2 backup complete at 02:30, so then schedule the VM3 in its own job to start at 03:00 giving a 30 min window.
