Proxmox Installation on DL380 Gen10 with zfs Best Practices

Hi Gents & Ladies

Just wanted to find out what is the best way I can set-up my server with Proxmox 6.2

I have HP SERVER DL380 Gen10 with 4x 1TB SSD Drives, All Drives a setup as Normal Drives without RAID or ARRAY, all on RAID0 Acting as Single Drives

But now I want to set-up zfs, can you recommend which one will be ideal to set-up with its options?

Don't do this. Buy a real HBA, unplug your backplane and rewire the ports to your HBA. Technically this will work with the RAID0 stuff, but you'll loose features of ZFS due to this additional layer.

Thanks for the response, so can I set up not Hardware RAID & Install Proxmox without zfs?

Hardware RAID and ZFS don't play well together, so go either with Hardware RAID and a non-zfs filesystem or use a HBA and ZFS.

SO If I do go with Hardware RAID, without zfs & just basic set-up will Proxmox still work incase of HDD Failure?

That is no longer the concern of PVE - every OS will fail if the RAID breaks. So be sure to use not RAID0 and monitor the raid status constantly. Adding a spare could also help. Off-server backups are also strongly recommended
