Proxmox in a Laptop with X11 & SPICE

Hi, I've followed wiki http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Developer_Workstations_with_Proxmox_VE_and_X11
and installed Proxmox and XFCE without problem.

Due to the screen resolution, I wanted to install vir-viewer to use spice protocol, and so obtain better resolutions (I would need 1200x600).

Problem is that debian version of virt-viwer is too old...

I tryed to use SID by
- Changing sources.list to testing
- Installing virt-viewer (0.6.1)
But unfortunatelly it destroyed my pve installation ...

What should be the correct way to install virt-viewer in this scenario (pve + X11 + virt-viewer) ??

Would it work if I install Debian Weezy + xfce + virt-viewer (from SID) and then install pve as explained in
http://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Wheezy ?

Hi,

the problem is that proxmox pve-libspice-server1 package, replace the debian libspice-server1 package.

and virt-viewer depend on libspice-server1.

I'll check if we can add a param in proxmox package to handle this.

proxmox pve-libspice-server1 lib already provide libspice-server1 lib.

Do you have tried with virt-viewer from wheezy ? (It's installing fine on my test machine)

Wheezy repos have virt-viewer version 0.5.3-1, and AFAIK 0.5.6 is needed .

Oh yes, indeed.

I had tried to compile virt-viewer manually, but the spice dev packages from debian conflict the proxmox spice dev packages...
grrr..

I'll check that next week.

Not yet finished, they are depends on spice-gtk I need build too.

How would one connect with virt-viewer to a running VM, maybe through VMs either qmp or vnc path (eg. /var/run/qemu-server/ID.{qmp|vnc}) or by some other means?

An do I need a newer virt-viewer than this:

virt-viewer version 0.5.3
pve-manager/3.3-1/a06c9f73 (running kernel: 2.6.32-32-pve)
