Proxmox host not detecting UPS via apcupsd but it shows up for VMs?

I'm trying to get apcupsd working with my Cyberpower UPS. It's worked fine with apcupsd in other systems. The UPS shows up fine if I try to add the USB port to a VM as you can see from the attached screenshot but if I try to query the UPS via:

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

I get the following error:

cat: /proc/bus/usb/devices: No such file or directory

Is there something I'm missing?

EDIT: I solved my issue with a re-install of apcupsd and changing DEVICE /dev/ttyS0 in the apcupsd.conf file to just DEVICE.
