I have a server..stand-alone-single user, that was working fine for a couple of years. Time to time I do a apt-get update, and upgrade to keep the linux/proxmox current. This time, it would not reboot. I get to a loading grub loading stage 1.5 error and can't get further.

I have tried grub rescue, and others, but to no avail. when booting on the sysresccd, md, mount, chroot, and run apt-get update, I see packages from repositories that aren't even in my sources.list, and it won't do the job as it quotes dependencies that I apparently don't need,

I am limited knowledge-wise to get any further...hoping someone has seen this before and can help me out.

PS...Udo has been trying to help me in another thread, but I think I am stuck. He believes my sources.list has all sorts of extras that shouldn't be there, but it soesn't.
