[SOLVED] Proxmox - Exchange integration

Hello.

I've sucessfully configured proxmox mail gateway 7.1 to filter incoming messages for my Exchange 2013 mailserver however I have a problem to setup outgoing mail. For now Exchange sends emails directly to the Internet. I've tried to change send connector to route mail through smart hosts (proxmox IP address) but it doesn't work. Can anyone please share their experience on this subject?

Did you configure the exchange server to send the outgoing emails to port 26? the Mail Gateway accepts incoming mails on port 25, and outgoing on port 26.

Yes. I did.

Set-SendConnector -Identity "Proxmox" -Port 26

I don't know where to find proxmox logs, I need to investigate it. As for Exchange I've enabled logs. I will let you know soon.

Ok. Mystery solved. Added port 26 to firewall rules and it's working now.

A classic reason
For anyone else who might stumble across this thread, try to connect manually on port 26. For example, via telnet. SMTP is an easy protocol, and you could send an email completely manually: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Mail_Transfer_Protocol#SMTP_transport_example

You have to add recieve connector on port 25 in ECP. In remote network settings add IP of your proxmox mail gateway server.

in security TAB I have TLS checked and permissions group anonymouse users, the rest is set by default. Also don't forget about pmg configuration

Thanks, I already have. I still have a question about how it is with the ports regarding the mail client. Is it possible to send exchange via the proxmox mail gateway without directly sending the
exchange itself to the world?

I don't understand. If you have both send and recieve connectors configured properly everything will go thru pmg.

Yes, that's right, but I'm also concerned about the ports to the mail client, so that you can connect to the mail server with the client application and not just send emails from OWA from a browser

Also I understand, but I don't want to expose the exhcange to the outside directly just wanted to do it via pmg if possible referring to the ports of the mail client itself
