Proxmox Directory Documentation - Out of date?

Hi, I'm a little confused about the state of the PVE documentation. I have a cloud-init image for debian, but I'm unsure what directory to store it in with regards to best practice and the directory storage type's structure for the various content types that can be enabled via the GUI.

I've been perusing the documentation for Storage: Directory to better understand the layout. Both the pve-docs (8.4.1) and the online docs do not contain entries in their directory layout tables for types such as Import or Disk Image. The online docs I linked were last updated at 09:11, 23 March 2023‎.

Are there plans to update the docs in either location? Which should I consider the source of truth? I love Proxmox but it's sometimes difficult to fill in gaps in my understanding due to either the docs being out of date or that I'm finding it difficult to navigate them correctly. I don't understand the GUI's functions very well and I would love to become more familiar with the Import page and its purpose/limitations.

I'm currently storing cloud-init images in the import folder of the default "local" directory storage location at this time but I'm unsure if this is the correct use of the import directory, since I don't seem to be able to use the qcow2 image from within the GUI. Should I be using the Disk Images (images) directory instead?

Any guidance with regards to misunderstandings I may have is appreciated. At the end of the day I'll just be creating a template out of the cloud-init image via the command line so it's not a major concern but I'd appreciate if the GUI were easier to utilise in this way.

Thanks for your time.

layout tables for types such as Import
A QCOW/VMDK/etc can be imported from any location. The "import disk" requires absolute path at this time.
Disk Image
These are stored in "VM images". For historic reasons "VM Image" is a VM disk in PVE-speak.

I'm currently storing cloud-init images in the import folder of the default "local" directory
There is no GUI qcow import at this time.
