Proxmox Cluster in OVH, can my planned infrastructure work like this?

Hello everybody, my client asked me to design a clustered environment, but i'm tight to OVH

i have choose 2 EG server, from enterprise category, so i have vRack 1.5. i'm planning to have a two nodes cluster, with DRBD over the second 10GBs nic through vRack 1.5, in combination with OVH IP failover 9,90€/month offer instead of fencing and HA. So my question are:

1. will vrack 1.5 allow me to setup a cluster using multicast? do i need to do any tweaking or forcing unicast?
2. will DRBD over my internal 10gb nic will work? (ovh nas solution are terrible slow).
3. i'm planning to deploy 4 containers (1 x firewall, 1 x webserver, 1 x mysql, 1 x webapp cache) : in a cluster situation (it means i have a go for points 1 and 2) will i be able to use let's say webserver on cluster1 and mysql on cluster2? will this brake clustering? in case of cluster1 node failure will i be able to run my vm only from cluster2?

i really really apreciate any kind of help since googling for proxmox, ovh, vrack and clustering all toghether did not brings are results in the last 4 hours :)

again thank you
Simone

Hello,

I'm going to have the same configuration as you.
Did you manage to have a working cluster with multicast ? The few threads talking about this seems to show that multicast isn't working although ovh support say the opposite.

thanks

Vrack was working perfectly, but cluster did not work at all!! i just gaved up using cluster, and just kept two separate nodes, without cluster configurations. anyway with vrack i'm able to create mysql cluster using virtual machine on both nodes, so..for now i'm using this.

but planning asap to move from ovh.

Did you check that multicast was working with tools like omping or ssmping before trying to create the cluster ?
And i'm curious but why do you plan to move asap from ovh ?

thanks

OK I'll see by myself... Are you happy with DRBD on the Vrack ? and why do you plan to move from ovh ?

ovh in my opinion is very good in low price servers, even super server with powerfull cpu. i see that support is slow, no "human touch" and sometime very rude. also, very much restrictions like multicast (for God sake, why stop multicast)

drbd is working very good over 10gb nic, ovh's nas/nfs is terrible slow like 10/12 mb write speed :(

Ok thank you for your opinion.
Anyway i specifically asked the support team if multicast was supported and they said : yes it is ! (and i have a mail to prove it )
I hope however the multicast will work but if it doesn't i assume this is because their vrack technology is some kind of vpn (since you can have it thru geographically distincts places)
For information I have dedibox servers (Online) and they don't allow either multicast thru their "RPN" with is a kind of vrack. I had to set up a vpn to have a working cluster and I was hoping not to have to do the same with ovh...
Are you sure about the nic speed ? I only have 1Gb...
