hi,
I just set up my cluster of 6 machines with proxmox installed and a promise iscsi matrix. I have few questions, as i am not very sure how it should be done (i read on proxmox wiki).
I configured promise to give me luns, 30 x 100GB. I added iSCSI storage in proxmox and for each lun i create a lvg group, as it is on wiki. My question is, whether it is a good way to do it ? How is done the creation of disc for a VM, what type of filesystem it is? Can i mount it somehow in a system to ex. copy the disk to other VMs? All i can see are lvm groups with lvs and vgs commands.

Secondly, i tried the live migration. I noticed two problems with standard debian lenny vm installation (KVM)

When I do live migration the vm does not work, I can see plenty of "hub connect-debounce failed" messages. When I click reset, the vm has a kernel panic about APIC.

Thanks for answers.

why do you use 30 LUNs? for me this a huge configuration overhead with no real benefit.

you can create one big LUN with LVM on top and you can start right away.
but both ways should work.

there is no filesystem on this level, you provide just a block device to your guest (and on the guest you can install whatever filesystem you like).

so just create a new VM and select the storage destination, specifiy the size.

do you run the latest version? is the live migration working with other guests?

Ok thanks for advice, ill create a big lun of 4TB and create lvm group for each disk I want.

I do not other guests than debian KVMs. Ill check with pvetest latest version.
