Proxmox Boot-Drive recommendation

Hello,

to setup a production environment with four servers we have to configure the servers hardware. All servers (DL380) should provider Proxmox VE with embedded Ceph and should be high available with failover funktion. We have two different opportunities to configure the boot (proxmox system) disks:

- HP RAID 1 with 2 x SAS 15K HDD
- HBA mode with 2 x SAS SSD and ZFS

We are no real Linux "experts" and prefere to use a simple manageable environment. If there is a disk faillure, we must be able to fix it "plug and play".

The Ceph storage will get extra HDDs / SSDs as JBOB / HBA mode.

Thanks for any recommendation!
Marc

Hello,

Is there any reason you cannot use the two HDD in zfs? If the SSDs are enterprise (if they have power-loss protection) then it is also a perfectly good setup. One of the benefits of using ZFS is that it is easier to replace the controller if it fails.
