Proxmox and multiple network devices

I'm a new user with proxmox, runing a BackupPC virtual appliance with success for several months. However I do not fully understand network behavior with proxmox when the host has several network devices. I do not find a simple enought documentation for my level of knowledge, just discussions about complex configurations. I have 4 network devices:

eth0 is used for the proxmox server and for my backupPC server (same class C network 194.254.66.0/24 and same VLAN).

Now I would like to use eth1 to setup a new container for an openmeeting server. It will be in an other VLAN and it will use an IP from an other class C network 194.254.67.0/24. And I do not understand the normal way to do this. EG should I set a new IP in 194.254.67.0/24 on eth1 before building a new vmbr1 for my openmeeting container with a different address in the same class/VLAN? This is a little bit obscure for me and any advices or suggested document to read is welcome.

Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
you need only an IP on the bridge if you want access over this IP the pve-host (gui), or do after that Nat or so on.

In your case use simply eth1 for a new bridge - the bridge can named like you want. E.G. vmbr1 or vmbr67 (for 194.254.67/24).
BTW. VLAN is for vlan-tagging (802.1q) and it's looks that you don't use it (this is to use one nic for different lans).

If you have created the new bridge you must reboot the host. After that your VM can use an nic on the new bridge.
