Proxmox and hot swapped hdd

Hello everyone,
I'm going to be setting up Proxmox VE for the first time and had a question that I was not able to find an answer for. If I create a windows xp vm and hot swap a hd into the server, does the windows vm auto detect the disk like it would running on a stand alone physical machine?

Hi,
no - you must do an powercycle (reboot isn't enough) because the bios must see the new disk.
Some time ago there was an patch for this but i don't know if this patch is usable in the actual version - try the search-function of the forum.
