Hi,
Noob here be aware.

My installation is a bare metal 8.4 Proxmox installation for the node/root system.

All my LV/containers/VM are in external storage encrypted with LUKS.

It's been running fine for moths. A file system failure made me think I should stop all VM/containers, check a hard disk, do a reboot and make sure I got a clean state.

My problem is Proxmox will not boot into a standard mode. I see messages in the console about dependencies and it starts in a limited boot state and request root passwd.

My expectation was I would get a normal boot. Connect via ssh do open LUKS and get my VG/LV visible again and up and running my containers.

Physically accessing the server is a pain. Manually keying those passwds into a console in a rack, is absolute hell. Physically and sight "eyes" wise. My bad.

What have I done wrong ?
What should be my process ?

Many Thanks for your support.

JC

OK, I managed to start the node. there are 3 file systems referenced in fstab that resides in luks encrypted disks that it was unable to mount. This triggered the fault.

thanks to @Dunuin for the hint in emergency mode after update
I still believe the question is relevant....at least on the side of...don't do this and that.

Don't retain in fstab filesystems that will require manual intervention to boot.

Thanks
