proxmox 8.2-2 on HP Z2 G4

I am trying to install proxmox 8.2-2.
For whatever reason direct install does not work, so I followed instructions as found in https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_12_Bookworm.
Target is an HP Z2 G4 running Debian 12. Minimal install ok.
Then as required, I changed the hosts file, downloaded the GPG key. And at last, I added the "pve-no-subscription" repo to the repo list.

Then again as required, I ran "apt install proxmox-default-kernel". And then the system hangs :

It works less often than it does:

Can you elaborate on that? After you unset SB, did you repeat the whole procedure, i.e. reinstall everything? Or you are just stuck with Debian from the first install onto which you cannot install PVE packages?

Then I did a few custos : grub (pci=noaer), changed the hosts file, download the gpg key and upda the repo list with "proxmox no sub".
Then as usual, I am stuck at the "apt upgrade" phase...

Just a question : could it be possible that it works with an older version of PVE ?

Can you double check what mokutil --sb-state says on that Debian? I suppose it's still bootable for you after the failed kernel package install.

In your original post you mentioned you got stuck at kernel install. The instructions call for:

apt update && apt full-upgrade

prior to that. I just want to point that PVE really is silly about this and needs the full-upgrade (previosly/equivalent to dist-upgrade), not just upgrade [1].

I think whatever the problem is, you will run into it the moment you try to upgrade that "older version", so this is not a way to troubleshoot it.

It's hard to guess what exactly happens with no outputs provided.

I am quite confident the current state must be different from the described one, i.e. I would not expect shim-signed-common to be there at all, also you had originally described issues on kernel package install, latest this was on update & full-upgrade, that's two entirely different steps.

That and also:
