I am totally in love with the proxmox 7. GPU and Audio passthrough work straight out of the box!!!!
Even multiple trx 2060+ to one VM is happy camping.

Next on my to do is make sure my 10GB NICs are actually 10GB Nics

Current system;
* AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X (CPU (64 core - 128 threads))
* Gigabyte trx-40 aorus extreme (rev1.0) (Mobo with fully updated BIOS)
* AORUS Gen4 AIC Adaptor (1 PCI device for 4 x NVMe SSD)
* 1 x evga rtx 2080 ti (GPU)
* 2 x Gigabyte rtx 2060 (GPU)
* 2 x Samsung 980 Pro 1TB (NVMe SSD in the slow m.2 slots of the motherboard)
* 4 x WD_BLACK 1TB SN850 (NVMe SSD) (2 of them in the fast m.2 slots of the mother board and 2 of them in the ACI adaptor)
* 4 x 32GB DDR4-2600MHZ ECC (memory)

yeah sure these are not 'server' components. But let me tell you this. this seems to be kicking ass at the moment.
Sure hard core enterprise ssd's will make this system look like a snail but
Code:
pveperf /vmpool
CPU BOGOMIPS:      742448.64
REGEX/SECOND:      3904958
HD SIZE:           1335.86 GB (vmpool)
FSYNCS/SECOND:     3478.71
is nothing to sneeze at right? or should I continue optimizing my setup?

@ph0x I am super ecstatic. Let a man revel in his joy please? ;)
And also since my original post is closed as Solved. Perhaps someone can throw in another bone or two
