proxmox 6.3-4 broken by "zfs set compression=zstd rpool/data" command

Hi, in my test environment (HP DL380e Gen8) I have verified that there is a problem in proxmox 6.3.4 and it can be reproduced doing the following steps:

1. install Proxmox 6.3-1 (using the last iso available from website) in zfs-raid1 mode;
2. update system to 6.3-4 (by apt dist-upgrade procedure) and reboot;
3. launch the following commands:
   zpool upgrade rpool
   zfs set compression=zstd rpool/data
4. reboot

modern ZFS features are only supported if you use systemd-boot/UEFI..

I had read in another post "For now, I'd avoid enabling the new zstd for the root pool, especially if you boot with BIOS and not UEFI and an EFI System Part ion (setup since Proxmox VE 5.4 ISO installer)." so I had understood that I could enable zstd compression in rpool/data ... but I suppose that it should be possible in the future or not?

root pool is ALL of rpool. I wouldn't bet on grub supporting all the modern stuff anytime soon..

yes, this is unfortunately a recurring theme. all the pain related to Grub + ZFS was what prompted us to switch all modern (EFI) systems to systemd-boot quite a while back..

Can anyone confirm that this is a grub + zfs Boot only problem. So it's fine to switch to newer zfs features such as zstd compression on _other_ pools. They should import fine with pve-manager/6.4-13/9f411e79 (running kernel: 5.4.128-1-pve)?
