Hello,

I'm trying to install Proxmox 6.2.1 onto and Asrock X570 Creator + 3900X, NVidia 710GT (PCIe 1x), Samsung NVMe 970 Plus 1To.
The install process always fail after obtaining the IP for the 10Gb Ethernet: the screen goes black.
I've tried on debug mode: I've a Xorg log showing an error as " cannot run in framebuffer mode".

I've tried nomodeset on the grub command line, blacklisting nouveau drivers, but nothing helps.

I've tried 5.4 and 6.1, same problem.
I've changed the graphic card (always NVidia, I don't have any AMD graphics), no change.

I don't need any X server on this proxmox server, a "text UI" installation would be great.

Do you have any idea (without installing Debian 10 then proxmox)? I'm very clueless.
This conf would be an upgrade of my 10 years server: going from a monolith server supporting all services I need to VMs and perhaps containers.

Thank for any idea I can test.

The PVE installer is GUI/X only - no text mode yet - maybe a simple workaround would be to use another video-card temporarily for the install?

else as you pointed out you can use a debian buster installation and install proxmox-ve

I hope this helps!

Thank you. I'm waiting for an AMD video card to try. I was hoping for another solution as PCI express 16x slots will be used for raid cards. If install work with AMD card, I'll swap it after with the PCIe1X one.

I'm already using Proxmox for 2 gaming VMs with two Nvidia video cards passthrough (but Intel CPU) without any problems (except shutdown that does not work but it's minor).

Using an AMD video card resolves the problem. It's sad that GUI/X is mandatory for a system which do not use nor need it once the installation is done.
Next step, remove the video card and see if it works...

I prefer to use the proxmox image to have the cleaner installation, with the least unnecessary elements in the system.
