I'm trying to install Proxmox 4.2 on a HP Proliant DL360 Gen9 with two 2TB drives.

I disabled the hardware raid but Proxmox can't found these hard drives.

Has anyone had luck installing Proxmox on these servers?

Thanks

roberto

Just wondering, have you tried installing VMWare ESXi 6.5 on that box to see if the drives are detected correctly? At least you can verify that they are okay using another Linux variant.

Hi Jeff

No, I have not tried.

If I can not run Proxmox, I might try it. But for now I still prefer Proxmox :)

I tried to install Debian 8.3 and also not detects the disks.

I do not want to use the hardware raid, I've disabled it.

I wonder if I need HP proprietary drivers even don't using hardware raid?

My goal is setup raid1 using zfs.

Thanks for your help

Yes, is a tipical problem with soft-raid controller (low profile controller used by HP).
Whether you set controller in raid mode whether set in single disk mode, the controller is the same and the disk aren't visible.
The best choise is... change controller.

What raid controller is currently in there? Could you please post a screenshot of the HPSA offline utility that you can configure your internal RAID with?

Hi, thanks to all for your help

The controller seems to be Smart Array P440ar

These are some screenshots.

Of course, I simply wanted to make sure the drives/controller themselves were not faulty in some way. I was not suggesting you use something other than Proxmox.

I've solved it enabling hardware raid and installing pm using ext4 and lvm.
Now disks are detected.

I wonder if it is recommend run zfs with hardware raid.

ok, thanks, now I have pm configured with ext4 and thin lvm.

All seems working well.
