Hi folks,

I read a lot of questions and answers but I really didn't find a good advice for my architecture :) :

We have :
- CISCO LoadBalancer
- 2 Proxmox (in Cluster)

My question is :

- How many maximum OpenVZ VM (ONLY no KVM) , could we do on that kind of hardware below :
( Note : on each VM there is a LAMP server - Each MySQL DB is different )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proc : Intel Xeon i7 W3520 [4x 2x 2.66+ GHz / 8 Mo L2 - QPI 4.8 GT/sec ]
Arch : 64 bits
RAM : 12 Go DDR3
HDD : 2x 1500 Go - SATA2 [RAID 1 soft]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In few months we will need to add another 2 node, based on the same architecture, so we have to be sure of our model.

Any ideas ?
Maybe I'm wrong on this design... suggestions appreciated !! :D

Thx.

Hi,
this depends on your load. I would say the limeting factor is first the IO - Sata-Raid-1 and then the RAM. For a new machine think about an good hw-raid-controller with an raid-10. ecspecialy for DB-access is it usefull.

Many thanks Udo !!

Your comment is very useful.
I think about a MySQL Cluster instead, it will be better (maybe), as I could not change/add new hardware in this kind of solution.

BTW Sorry for the delay, I was on Easter holidays :D

Thx.

Wolverine.
