proxmox 1.1 fails install from CD

Hi all,

Seem to getting hit by this more and more now...

right at the end of the install from CD I get an error:

"command 'chroot /target dpkg --force-confold --configure -a' failed with exit code 1 at /usr/bin/proxinstall line 147."

Now I've had it successfully install on this hardware before so I'm not quite sure what's going on here. I'm installing on a single 500Gb SATA drive.

Any ideas?

Maybe a damaged installation media?

is there and message on the console (press CTRL-ALT-F2)

just ran it again now with ctl-alt-F2 and I don't see much different error wise just this:

Errors were encountered while processing:
postfix
at
pve_manager
mutt
vzdump
mailx
proxmox-ve
command 'chroot /target dpkg --force-confold --configure -a' failed with exit code 1 at /usr/bin/proxinstall line 147.

I've tried with both proxmos 1.0 and 1.1 CDs both of which have built other systems.

Anything changed?

Try to view the console during installation (use CTRL-S to stop console scrolling, CTRL-Q to continue).

Well I've been messing with the BIOS to try and optimize it's configuration but I've reset that back to defaults again.

I've just taken the drive out and put it into another system to make sure it's blank.

ok FOUND IT!!

it seems that if I remove the RAM from the first RAM slot and run the install CD it works.

I can then power off the system and push the RAM back in.

Strange but anyway.

nope.. I was wrong...

It fails because the host name I'm giving it was too short.

Internally I use ".int" and so was trying to give the proxmox installer a name of "apollo.int" which it accepted but then failed at the last point. Change the name to "apollo.proxmox.int" and it seems fine now.

Does this count as a bug?
