Proper way to add zfs storage in gui?

I will be building a new Proxmox host in the next few days. I would like to use zfs for my vm storage.

I am comfortable creating the zfs pool in the cli but I am not sure how I should add the storage in the proxmox gui.

Should I add it as directory storage or should it be added as ZFS?
