Hello nice promox helping community,
I have been using proxmox for a while now for hosting web services and I'm decided to move to something more robust with multiple node

Right now I have one node that run has 2 publics IP, one IP is only for the node and another is redirected to a VM that run a pfSense firewall with DHCP this VM is connected then connected to a bond in which all the other VM find their IP, then on VM is an apache proxy (that catch all the http(s) connection) and redirect the request based on the requested domain

Now I'm wondering how I can use such system with 3 nodes indeed, each of then will have a public ip, so I'm wondering how I should configure the DNS of my domains because in this case I don't know on which node the VM will be so I need the dns to redirect to the correct node (or maybe there is another way to to it ? ) .
Also do you have an idea how to manage the http proxy, in case of a node fail ?

Thank you for your help, I have googled everywhere but could not find what I'm looking for, if you can tell me where to look that would be a great start :)
Thank you,
Antoine

Hey,

if you have a connection between the hosts for the VMs network, you can configure your Proxy to resolv to all VMs..
you could add all IPs of your Proxys to the domains in the dns, so there is a kind of load balancing but a real failover is not possible without an HA IP
