Hi.

I´ve just installed a 560SFP+ 10GbE card in my proliant DL380 gen 8 and I notices that my fan speed increased from 20% to 45%.

I´ve found a thread with similar problem when using VMware and the solution is:

https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c05376322

DESCRIPTION

On certain HPE ProLiant servers configured with Intel adapters, the server may experience an increased fan speed due to a lack of the OCSD/sea of sensors support with VMware ESXi 6.5 Intel native inbox drivers.
Since the OCSD/Sea of sensors support is not present in the driver, the temperature data will not be appropriately read from the sensor and fans may increase speed.

SCOPE

Any HPE ProLiant server configured with any of the following network adapters, running VMware ESXi 6.5, and the native inbox drivers igbn 0.1.0.0 and ixgben 1.0.0.0:
  • HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter
  • HP Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366i Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560FLB Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560FLR-SFP+ Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560M Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 561FLR-T Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 561T Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361T Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366FLR Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366M Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 366T Adapter

RESOLUTION

Install Async VMkLinux driver ixgbe 4.4.1 and igb 6.0.0.229 for 6.0, which has OCSD support, from VMware.com:

Does anyone know if this drivers is availible for proxmox ?

Thanks.

Hi.

Igb drivers in proxmox seemes old

filename: /lib/modules/5.13.19-6-pve/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/igb/igb.ko

Is it possible to update igb drivers manually?

Did you find a solution ? I changed for the 530SFP+ but finally not a solution because of the lack of support of SR-IOV on freebsd (pfsense).

Hi @Baloba and @DrGeek

So you can confirm that 562SFP+ works fine with hp 360p gen8?

I was checking on hp site for 562SFP+ and says that is compactible with server gen9?
