Hi all,

Sorry for my english...

Hi all,

I have a host with Proxmox 1.8 with 2 nic's. I created the vmbr0 with eth0 port on mode bridge with an ip, for example, 192.168.1.10. Also, I created another vmbr1 to the other nic, eth1 port, on mode bridge with an ip 192.168.1.20.

My test is to do a ping to each nic to see if each one runs correctly. The nic's are connected to the same switch. So I did the ping and responds correctly but if I disconnect the eth0, the vmbr0 not responds to ping ( ok ) but the vmbr1 ( bridged to eth1 ) not responds to pings...

If I disconnect the eth1 and the eth0 is connected, the vmbr0 and the vmbr1 responds to pings without problems...

I don't understand it, the configuration is correctly, vmbr0 bridged to eth0 and vmbr1 bridged to eth1. I see the configuration file /etc/network/interfaces and all seems fine like graphical interface, vmbr0 bridged to eth0 field, and vmbr1 to eth1 field.

The information that display ifconfig is correctly, all ok but seems like all traffic trough by the eth0 and not eth1, how is possibly? I have another host with proxmox 1.5 with 9 nic's and all runs correctly.

Thanks,

Is not the way they are intended to be used. Assign an IP ONLY to vmbr0, that is used by proxmox itself for communicate with the lan. You should think about the bridges like "hubs" where you attach the (virtual) ethernet adapters of the virtual machines... hubs don't have IP themselves.
For your ping problem, even if you don't use proxmox but a simple GNU/Linux installation with 2 nics (eth0 and eth1) connected to the same switch, you will face similar problems. If you issue:
# route -n
you will find that for your 192.168.1.0 subnet, the gateway is one and only one nick. If you want to double bandwidth, you have to configure nics in "bonding" (and for some configuration, you need a switch that support this setup).
Is 1.30am here, so too tired to explain deeper, but I hope I've give you some "tips" for further test and investigations.

Hi mmenaz,

Yes, it was my fault, a silly thing, I guess in their moment i was tired and I don't saw it

Thanks!
