Hi Everyone,

I've recently installed proxmox, and am trying to build my first appliance from an ISO image that I loaded earlier today...

When I go into Virtual Machines and click on Console (next to my new appliance) a window opens - there's lots of Java questions, but when I eventually get to the console it's not quite right - the screen appears to have been divided up into strips - I can see the first two columns of characters, then 2 columns of black, then another 2 columns of characters etc all the way across the screen.

I suspect that there is a config problem somewhere, but have no idea where to start (though I have tried playing around with the Options in the console window, but makes no difference.

Could someone please give me some pointers where to look?

Thanks!
James.

pls use the latest browser sun-java6-plugin. what desktop do you use, browser? and what VM do you install from ISO?

I downloaded the java plugin from Sun's website yesterday

I'm running Vista on my desktop, have tried using ie8, firefox 3 and chrome browsers - all have the same result

I'm trying to install freenas - www.freenas.org - it is a NAS appliance that is built on freebsd.

do you use the latest version of Proxmox VE? do other ISO work, e.g. ubuntu?

I too am having this issue....

With a standard terminal the size if fine.. But when guests have a Gui its only partially viewable.

I am using Proxmox VE 1.3 and my Desktop is java 1.6.0_14. {Kubuntu 64bit}.

From Firefox 3.0.13 About:Plugins
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_14

File name: libnpjp2.so The next generation Java plug-in for Mozilla browsers.I believe this is the Sun Java 64bit driver.

Please advise...

Tim

which version of Kubuntu (and KDE version)? try disable any desktop effects.

As soon as I got your specs I will give it a try here.

Kubuntu 9.04

well I just found a missing java library in my ~/.mozilla/plugins {even though firefox says all is well}

user@kbuntu ~/.mozilla/plugins>
$ ls -alrt libjavaplugin_jni.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 user users 71 2009-08-04 16:25 libjavaplugin_jni.so -> /usr/lib/jvm/ia32-java-6-sun-1.6.0.05/jre/lib/i386/libjavaplugin_jni.so

this was my broken link....

I change it to

<user@kubuntu ~/.mozilla/plugins>
$ ls -alrt
total 11029
lrwxrwxrwx 1 user users 67 2009-08-18 12:20 libjavaplugin_jni.so -> /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.14/jre/lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so

restarted Firefox and all is well now.

Thanks for the quick reply....
