Problem with Verify Receivers

Good day,

I've got Proxmox setup as a gateway to my Exchange 2003 Server, and I have enabled SPF, Greylisting, Verify Receivers(450) as suggested per the deployment guide. In the beginning I was having issues with proxmox communicating with my exchange server to verify users so I added all my allowed receipients in the Maikl Proxy WHITELIST. I would assume at this point that if the receiptient is not in the WHITELIST that on the SMTP level the incoming mail should be denied. This is not the case I am seeing. I have monitored thru many logs a lot of email that was accepted/queued or accepted/delivered only to be rejected(550) by my Exchange server. Why are all these unwanted emails getting thru?

Any help appreciated,

Evan

did you configure exchange correctly as described in the deployment guide? - the exchange default setting does not work.
did you use/send to the right port? check internal/external ports.

so I added all my allowed receipients in the Maikl Proxy WHITELIST. I would assume at this point that if the receiptient is not in the WHITELIST that on the SMTP level the incoming mail should be denied. This is not the case I am seeing.

if you SMTP whitelist something, this does not mean that all other are blacklisted.

First, remove your whitelist entries as this is not necessary here, second check the exchange settings (see deployment guide "verify receivers" how to with screenshots). enable verify receivers on the proxmox side (yes 450) and send a test message form outside to an non existing email, check the results in the message tracking center. if it is not working, post the log from the tracking center.
