Problem with realtek 8169 pci ethernet adaptor.

I decided to install proxmox in my old data server, the installation went fine.
But when I tried to connect to the server with firefox the login page didn't appear, so i run ifconfig and the wired connection didn't show. I run lspci to check if the system was recognizing the Ethernet pci card and the full description of the card was ok. I also did a lsmod and the module r8169 was loaded.

What is wrong? I can't connect to the server or connect to the router with the server.

I remember some issues with realtek drivers, what do you get with

which ISO do you use?

also post the relevant part of 'lspci -v'

and 'modinfo MODULENAME'

The easiest and fasted way is probably a replacement of the nic (just use a Intel nic)

Ask your hardware vendor it its possible to add a Intel PCI network card.
