Hi, I've got a problem with my GMKTEC G3 igpu and Proxmox installed on it:
System Configuration:
  • Model: GMKtec G3 N100
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage 1: Verbatim Vi560 1TB (SATA)
  • Storage 2: Samsung 990 Evo Plus 4TB (NVMe)
  • OS: Proxmox (Linux)
Issue Description:
I recently installed a new SSD and performed standard system updates (including the Linux kernel). Following the update, the system boots and starts all vms/lxcs but hangs a few minutes later randomly. It also displays numerous errors related to voltage readings and the registry (please see attached logs). It worked fine before, I used it for two months and it was okay all the time.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
  1. Downgrade Attempt: I attempted to downgrade the kernel (tried 6.14), but the issue persists.
  2. iGPU Isolation: The system does not hangs (or throw errors) if I disable the iGPU. Temp solution, I need it for transcoding
  3. BIOS Check: My current BIOS is dated from late 2024. I could not find a newer version on GMKTEC website. I suspect that's the cause of the issue.
The logs point to a specific failure with the i915 driver (Intel Graphics) and ACPI voltage tables. It appears there is a conflict between the current BIOS firmware and newer Linux kernels.

Are you aware of this incompatibility? Please advise if there is a specific BIOS update or configuration change required to resolve this iGPU error. I can't resolve it myself & with AI, I contacted GMKTEC support too but still waiting for their answer.

I attach logs from journalctl, lspci -nnk and pveversion -v to the thread too. Let me know if you need more info

Did you install and do you have the latest intel microcode package ?

apt install intel-microcode

You may also experiment with these in your GRUB kernel command line to work around buggy ACPI tables - test them one at a time:
i915.force_probe=*
i915.disable_display=1
intel_iommu=off
