Hello everyone,

I hope I’m not creating a duplicate thread.

On PBS 4.2.0, equipped with an LTO-9, I have no issues with kernel 6.17.13-11, whereas with 7.0.x it isn’t recognised.

Name

HP-LTO9

Vendor

HPE

Model

Ultrium_9-SCSI

Many thanks

Luca

Hi Luca,

could you provide more details? Some logs examples could be helpful.
What shows
Code:
proxmox-tape drive scan
?

I had tried via the GUI, simply to list the available tapes, and no tapes were detected (with the 7.0.x kernel).
After reverting to 6.17, everything started working perfectly again.
From what I’ve read in various articles, it seems that the 7.0.x kernel has issues with external SCSI devices… and indeed, this tape is an external SCSI device.

Thanks
Luca

I’m terribly sorry.

PBS 4.2.0 with kernel 7 works fine, even with LTO.
The problem was with LTO; when I rebooted the system (to downgrade the kernel), it started working again, and I mistakenly thought that was where the problem lay.

Thank you very much, and I apologise again.
