Hi everybody,

I acvtually use an Pair of Proxmox VE Hosts with an Existing Dell Equalogic ISCSI Storage.
With an Shared LVM on Top of an ISCSI Target.
This works Great but due To the LVM I can Only Store RAW Disk Images and have no Fancy Snapshot
Technology.
I saw that there is an Solution wit ZFS via ISCSI. But it seemes "only" to work with special
ZFS Based Storage Systems.
Is there a way to setup wit an Generic ISCSI LUN?

Regards Malte

no this requires zfs under the iscsi layer, not on top, so the only way to use zfs over iscsi is if your storagebox support it

If you are willing to test you could try using gluster on top of the LUN. Then you would be able to create Qcow2 based VM's and gain snapshot and cloning feature. I have no idea about the performance which is why I started writing if you were willing to test;)

but gluster is not a cluster-aware filesystem but a distributed one? or do you mean gfs2 (which stands for Global File System)?
