Couple weeks ago I bumped a home box from a Ryzen 1700 to a Ryzen 2700X CPU. One would naturally expect a slightly lower overall CPU utilization afterward based on the new CPU's improved capabilities. Unfortunately something seems a little off and all my idles are higher than they used to be. There seems to be a lot of ksoftirq cycles in each vm, and the host itself shows a rather large number of local timer interrupts, IRQ work interrupts, etc.
The BIOS on the board should be well capable of running the newer chip without issues, but there are a couple vague updates for it available.
Curious if anybody has experienced similar and/or if I should perhaps tweak a tiny setting somewhere or just go shove in a new BIOS version and hope for the best. My only real fear with the bios is the agony of resetting any customized settings required to keep the system running. Consumer grade crap frequently drops customized settings on an upgrade.
