Possible to ingest bare metal machine in VM?

Might be a silly question, is it possible to make an image of an existing disk with OS and have it run as a virtual machine?

Like DD a disk to a VM?

backup was easy but I didn't manage to recover the discs, got into some weird errors when sda1, sda2 got recovered in dd mode but sda3 didn't pass with weird errors. I am not sure if it can relate to the fact that I had original had 2 nvme drives in zfs raid1 (mirror) mode and wanted to recover only 1 original nvme to 1 sda drive.
