Hello every body!

I have installed Proxmox on a pretty big nvme drive wich will never be fully used:

drive show as:
Disk /dev/nvme0n1: 953.9 GiB, 1024209543168 bytes, 2000409264 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: gpt
Disk identifier: C654DC6E-AA15-4A80-956B-7565B5650B2D

Device Start End Sectors Size Type
/dev/nvme0n1p1 34 2047 2014 1007K BIOS boot
/dev/nvme0n1p2 2048 1050623 1048576 512M EFI System
/dev/nvme0n1p3 1050624 2000409230 1999358607 953.4G Linux LVM

Wanted to use some space of /dev/nvme0n1p3 to act as cache for my zpool drive.

Can this be achieved to have something like this?

/dev/nvme0n1p3 653.4G Linux LVM
/dev/nvme0n1p4 150G zpool cache
/dev/nvme0n1p5 150G zpool log

Any hint appreciated :-)

have a good week!

Hi,

generall, it is not recommended to put a ZIL or L2ARC on a disk which is used by other storages.

Theoretically, you can resize partition3 and create a fourth partition for this purpose.

Thanks for your answer. indeed, i'm aware it's not recommended, but now i'm sure :-)

Will think again about this.
