Hello, I have followed https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_12_Bookworm and set up is complete/succesful.

I am almost ready to take this on the road with a travel router.

Wondering if anyone can assist with the last networking hurdles.

  • Debian works fine, I can connect to wifi and use as a normal DE.
  • When connected to wifi I am accessing PVE via localhost/127 address.
  • There is an IP address in /etc/hosts but I have removed the IP from PVE GUI/etc/network/interfaces
  • with an IP assigned I lose internet connection on the laptop/DE and PVE.

  • If I assign an IP and set gateway to the laptop WIFI / IP address I can access the web on the laptop and PVE has working internet but guests have no internet and I cannot connect to the travel router admin
What I need to get working is working internet for guests (though not overly important)
More important is accessing the Router Admin page

The only way everything works (if I change the GW to router address) is if the laptop is plugged in via ethernet and connected to wifi

The ultimate goal is to not be connected via ethernet

Is this acheivable?

thank you

I have managed to solve this using IPTABLES, enabling ipv4 forwarding and MASQUERADE
