Is there a place that has a list of commercial hardware people have had success with for mid-to-large environments?
I understand Proxmox and Ceph will work on a wide range of hardware. I've seen the hardware used on the ZFS and Ceph benchmarking articles, but those have specific pieces that would need to be built from scratch, as opposed to a particular vendor/model to be further configured.
Are there any lists of recommended production-level servers that customers with mid-to-large systems have used? We can certainly custom build several servers piece by piece, but it might be nice to have vendor-warrantied options that have the particular tech pieces available (IT mode, NVMe, processor/RAM levels, NIC options, etc).
I'd like to buy hardware that works very well for a 4-10 node Proxmox, including good Ceph performance. I want to make sure I don't buy something that would create a bottleneck right from the beginning. And, if that means a consultant, then that's fine too. Just wondering if there were islands of vendor hardware that simply worked better overall.
