Hi all,
we want to use PMG as cluster. Our purchasement manager accidently bought the community edition for the second node. Of course i know in the documentation can be read that different licenses should not be mixed. In my opinion its about to not mix free and a bought license. The basic and community repo should be the same. Am i right with that or is there a problem with mixing the community and basic subscriptions for the cluster
functionality?

Best regards Dirk

just to not misunderstand something - do you mean a Community level subscription, instead of a Basic Level Subscription? https://www.proxmox.com/en/products/proxmox-mail-gateway/pricing

Your posts mixes the terminology (license, subscription, community, free, repo) around - so I'll try to summarize how we use those terms:
* license: all our software with all features is licensed under AGPLv3 (it's 100% open-source)
* subscription: This is a service you can buy from proxmox to get:
** access to the enterprise repository (for all subscriptions (i.e. community and above)
** access to our enterprise support portal and a number of tickets to be handled by our team (for level basic and above)
* repository: The public repositories for PMG are pmg-enterprise (for this you need a subscription), pmg-no-subscription and pmg-test.

The versions of our software all contain the same code and are moved from test to no-subscription to enterprise.
Having the same repository configured on all nodes in your cluster ensures that they have the same versions running (we do our best to not cause friction between versions, but sometimes some things might not work if you have different versions on your cluster.

is there a problem with mixing the community and basic subscriptions for the cluster
The issue with mixing a community subscription with a basic subscription is that the cluster is not eligible for receiving support through our enterprise support portal.

I hope this explains it!

Hi Stoiko,
thank you very much. Im sure we will use the basic subscription on the 2nd node too when the community subscription ran out. For now it was important for me, that technically there is no problem with mixing Community and Basic in one cluster.
Best regards Dirk

Glad that cleared up your question!

For completeness sake - and if someone runs into this thread in the future - you can upgrade your subscription to a higher level in our shop quite easily:
