PMG 4.1-11 into 5.1 upgrade - questions

Hi.
We have two clustered pmg's using 4.1-11 versions.

We are going to make an upgrade to the latest 5.1 version, and we need few answers:
- what is the best way to make this upgrade, fresh 5.1 iso install, then backup and restore from 4.1, or other way?
- how to make an upgrade when using cluster, do we need to upgrade both nodes at the same time?
- are 4.1 and 5.1 versions compatible?
- is the license for 4.1 compatible with 5.1 version?

And the most important: is the 5.1 version very stable and mature like 4.1?

Hi,

Upgrading from PMG 4.x to 5.x is done via - installing a new 5.x instance and restoring a backup from the 4.x - see the informative upgrade video:

A cluster is only supported with the same version of PMG.

The licensing model has changed to match PVE's subscription based model - you should have been notified by the Reseller/Partner about the change (if not contact them).

Hi.
We've prepared the new 5.1 nodes, next upgraded, then clustered with success.

Then we made a backup at old master (like in tutorial), and restored the backup at new master.
The mail filter rules migrated properly, but the statistics are gone.

I have tried doing the restore using GUI (clicking 'statistics') and by cli, but with the same result.

starting restore: /var/lib/pmg/backup/pmg-backup_2019-01-26-V4.tgz
config_backup.tar: OK
Proxmox_ruledb.sql: OK
Proxmox_statdb.sql: OK
version.txt: OK
Destroy existing rule database
Create new database
run analyze to speed up database queries
ANALYZE
Analyzing/Upgrading existing Databases...done
restore finished
TASK OK
