PM Backup Server Create ZFS

Hello all. I have PBS running as a VM in PVE 7.4-14. I store my pve VM's and CT's on an external USB drive that sits in one of those dual drive caddies. I inserted a second drive into the caddy today hoping that I could use it to create a ZFS disk in PBS and send my backups to it. Unfortunately, what I am getting is the No unused disk message. However, the new drive is recognized in PVE as /dev/sdc. Is there a way that I can resolve this issue. Your time and guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You need to go to the disk section and wipe disk. you can also do that by typing sgdisk -Z /dev/sdc The disk needs to have the text "unused"

Thank you @jsterr However, wiping the disk does not make it available to the Proxmox Backup Server. I want to be able to use /dev/scs in PBS and not PVE

Oh I misread, you need to passthrough the device in your pbs vm. or create a pool based on the disk and put some virtual disks on that storage. The pbs vm cant automatically see the devices from pve, so you can passthrough or create a storage to use for the virtual disks in pbs.

No worries. Yes I would like to backup my pve vm's to that drive
