Physically move server (within same network)

Hi guys; first post from a happy new (home) PVE 7.0 user ;), running 5 VM`s at the moment with 55 days uptime since I started my learning curve with Proxmox. My very basic question is the following. There is a need to physically move my server from one location to the other in the same house in the same network.

- What is the safe process to do so ? Server needs to shut down and will be made powerless.
- In the current location I had the server connected to a monitor/keyboard/mouse for Proxmox installation but now it is disconnected. Will I need it again or will Proxmox start up automatically after reboot so I can reach it from GUI immediately ?
- Anything else I need to think off ?

Nothing special to know. Server should boot without mouse and keyboard. Only thing I always recommend: don’t move warm hardware immediately after shutdown. Let it cool down for 10-15 minutes to avoid thinnest frictions on the warm/hot pcb plates when moved.

Maybe first shutdown and restart the machine in its current place. Just to make sure that works, otherwise you might have to troubleshoot two issues at the same time.
Might also be a good idea to install updates and reboot more often.

Thanks for that recommendation; I will do so. So it is only hit the Shutdown button and the server will physically power off ? Then relocate and power on again ? So no need to stop VM`s first or whatever ?

Yes, you are right, I will do that first at the current location. thanks.

Ok, got it, and they will start up again after rebooting Proxmox i assume ?
With the default configuration, no. Though you can tell them to automatically start at boot under VM > Options > Start at boot
However, with 5 VM's you will probably also get away with starting them manually ;)

I just ran a test shutdown & startup as advised and that worked well. This gives me enough confidence to relocate the machine to it`s final location and on a UPS. Thanks all for your valued input.
